  3. RegSoft Announces Version 1.12 for Newton!

  5. LlamaDOS: The first Post-Newton Command Line Interpreter

  7. (Portland) RegSoft today announced the General Availability (GA) of version 1.12 of
  8. LlamaDOS. It features a number of significant enhancements from 1.06, including 
  9. enhance screen management, MP 110 support, simplified font management and full
  10. MS-DOS auditory compatability.

  12. "We felt the market was ready for a Rev 1.12," said George Henne, RegSoft's Vice
  13. President of Development. "We felt LlamaDOS was a good candidate for this."

  15. While the Newton is a tremendous design, it lacks a feature found on most
  16. computers: a command line interface for system management. Rather than invent a new
  17. interface for the Newton, LlamaDOS implements the world's most widely used interface,
  18. with well over 40 million users: DOS. The developers at RegSoft have done their best to
  19. make sure that the quality and user friendliness of the DOS interface survived intact
  20. on the Newton in their new product, LlamaDOS 1.12.

  22. With LlamaDOS, a user can traverse directories, look at files and the status of their
  23. system using the same commands they have used for years on PCs. Of course, not all
  24. commands are implemented: just a subset that will be used regularly. Any application
  25. can also be run directly from the command line.

  27. "It's really increased my productivity," said Frank Schaedlich of HHI Inc, one of the
  28. beta testers. "I also feel I have much better control over the internals of the Newton.
  29. It was great not having to learn a new interface."

  31. The normal cost of the software is $195.00 US. However, a special limited time
  32. competitive upgrade of just $19.95 is being offered. To qualify, please specify the
  33. Newton OS you are upgrading from. Revenues will be used to produce enhanced versions
  34. of LlamaDOS. Look for the shareware copy on the networks, or order directly form:
